Running Indoors Vs. Outdoors
There has been much debate over what is more beneficial between outdoor and indoor running. Valid points can be made for each argument. These points will be covered here. You can then make a decision for yourself. Just keep in mind that your opinion isn’t as important as your decision to run. Running on any surface is better than not running at all. The condition of your heart is imperative and running is one of the best ways to keep it healthy.
Many decades ago, running inside on an electrical treadmill was not an option. These days, they can be found in every gym, fitness center, training facility, and in many garages and basements. They are beneficial for many reasons. For one, they’re much easier on your knees than running on cement. You can also use a treadmill regardless of weather conditions, which will allow you to stay in shape throughout the entire year. And what many people enjoy the most are the tracking features. Most treadmills will keep track of your distance, speed, and heart rate. Many will also offer challenging courses, which you can build on each time.
There are many runners who will never even consider running on a treadmill. They feel it takes away from what running is all about. These runners enjoy the scenery around them, the more challenging surface, and are willing to risk the condition of their knees. They might run on a track from time to time, but it’s as much about freedom as it is fitness. In other words, they like to go where they please. Many of these runners now wear a watch for running. This allows them to experience new scenery without having to worry about getting lost. These runners also take great pride in running in inclement weather.
As stated earlier, one option is not better than the other. It’s just important that you run.
