Why not add some of the nuts and berries listed below for a  delicious meal. Don’t fall into the trap of going for the instant,  sweetened or flavored varieties though.</p>

<p>The Science: Berries are the perfect source of natural sugars (that  don’t spike blood sugar like refined sugars will), fibre (slows sugar  and carb absorption further and fills you up), vitamins, minerals,  antioxidants and falvonoids (proven cancer prevention links). It’s hard  to believe that you get all of this with low calories too. Perfect if  you’re looking to burn belly flab.</p>
<p>Shop For: Fresh berries if possible, frozen berries are cost effective.</p>

On the  other hand, beef raised on grain (not the animal’s natural diet)  produces poor quality meat, lacking in nutrients and containing bad  fats. But the  truth is, organic, free-range eggs have no affect on blood cholesterol  (blame processed and refined fats for that). Furthermore, the essential  fatty acids inside an eggs yolk are vital for fat burning.</p>
<p>The Science: Do you only eat egg whites? Well then you might be  interested to know that the yolk contains 90% of an egg’s nutrients.  Iron, zinc, phosphorus, thiamin, B6, folate, and B12, panthothenic acid,  fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K and all of the food’s essential  fatty acids can be found in the yolk. The opposite effect can result. When the body does not get enough nutritional value from the food you eat, especially when attempting to build muscle, it takes the energy from elsewhere in the body, often from the muscles themselves. Your body will go into a catabolic state and break down the muscle tissue to release protein. It does this either when the body has over trained or has had an extended period of activity, or when you go without food for longer periods of time.</p>
<p>So to avoid this happening you need to do two things when building muscle.</p>
<ol>
<li>You need to train intensely for short periods of time. Usually you should not lift weights for more than 45 minutes at a time or if you do you should be taking a supplement or energy drink of some kind.</li>
<li>You need to eat frequently when weight training, especially just after your training session.</li>
</ol>
<p>It is especially important to eat breakfast since effectively you have been fasting while you sleep. You body has not been given any food during this time and you are especially vulnerable to falling into  a state of catabolism if you skip breakfast.</p>
<p>It is also important when training to build muscle that you do not train on an empty stomach. Your muscles will again break down muscle tissue to use the protein if you are not consuming enough of it through your diet or if it cannot get it from anywhere else.</p>
<p>Food should be taken directly after a training session also. An easily digestible food source is best to feed your muscles so the body does not have to work very much to break it down.</p>

When you lift weights you cause the muscle tissues to break, assuming you are lifting heavy enough weights. You need to allow them to repair and for the body to go to work before you head back to the gym. <p>Not having enough sleep, poor diet or over training will lead to loss of performance and fatigue.</p>

Or, a better question would be &#8211; can I get a better workout for less money?  The answer to those questions are no and yes, respectively.  No, they are not worth it; and yes, there is a much better alternative &#8211; either just doing regular situps or buying a Swiss ball and working out with that.</p>
<p>Second, do they do what they claim to do?  Or, do they actually work out your abs?  The answer to those questions is no, and no.  They both claim to work your abs, with less work than normal workouts, and get you great looking eight pack abs.  That is not going to happen, not even with their &#8216;expanded range of motion&#8217;.  This won&#8217;t happen for a few reasons.  One, there is not as much resistence.   Sorry, but if you don&#8217;t have resistence you don&#8217;t have muscle growth.  Two, that expanded range of motion can actually hurt you &#8211; you only need 30 degrees of motion to work out your abs.  Three, targeting your abs with situps or any other wieght-lifting programs won&#8217;t work off that extra fat just from your abs.  If you want the fat off, you need to do aerobic workouts.</p>
<p>Bottom Line</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t waste your money on these &#8216;latest and greatest&#8217; ab machines.  They simply aren&#8217;t worth it, and many would not be worth it even if they were free.  Instead, stick with tried and true methods &#8211; hard, careful work, eating right &#8211; not cutting corners with funky machines.</p>
