Cardio Training For All Fitness Levels
The secret is out and listening ears are responding. Cardiovascular exercise is the number one way to address and overcome the affects of aging. While no one extend the days of their life, they can easily improve the quality of the days the do have. Cardio training is the best way to do that. Developing an exercise schedule and sticking to the plan is the only way to stay true to any exerciser’s goals. Variety is the key to continued improvement and will help you lose body fat. Refusing to allow the mind to dictate the body’s limits ensures the greatest results.
Developing a routine is key. Cardio is defined as keeping the heart rate between 120 and 200 beats per minute. As long as the heart rate remains within the limits the workout is considered cardio training. A good routine might include a warm up, some weight lifting, a long run, ride or swim and a cool down. For the optimal results, cardio routines should last roughly forty minutes to an hour. Within that time frame there are two important rules to follow.
When weight lifting, people need to be mindful of their heart rate. Because sets are rigorous, it can be tempting to rest before moving on. However, to make lifting a cardio workout, circuits without resting times are essential. A person must have in mind the list of machines he or she will use. Varying from legs to arms will help alleviate pain and cramping. Doing three cycles at a constant pace of movement will be plenty. And one final note on lifting: if a person does not want to bulk up, he or she only needs to worry about weight limits. Do not lift heavily, but instead do high repetition if you want to stay toned but not bulky. Lean muscle is more effective anyway.
The second key to cardio training is variety. For a consistent improvement a person needs to go to the gym or the park to perform cardio a minimum of three times a week. Each day the goal should be to change the long cardio exercise. If running was performed the prior day, riding a stationary bike should follow. Utilizing the stair master, treadmill, swimming pool, elliptical machine and rowing machine along with jump roping or classes will provide plenty of opportunity to change it up.
Especially during the beginning, a person’s mind is his or her worst enemy. The brain tries to conserve energy. The body can go further than the mind wants it to. Ignoring impulse and pushing through negative thoughts will help any person to achieve their cardio goals.
