Bodybuilding may seem a bit drastic to some people but for most, it is the chance to prove to yourself and to others that you are not as old as they make out and that you can keep up with the fittest guys around. The first thing that will happen after you begin bodybuilding is that you will lose some weight. You may not gain muscle mass straight away and this is because your body is focusing on the extra fat that you may be carrying around and working that off first. Bodybuilding is a great way to reduce belly fat in women which is why its so popular. Once all the excess fat has been burned off then you will begin to notice your muscles growing. This of course depends on what muscle areas you are targeting. For a complete workout you should work on the arms, shoulders, stomach and legs. Alternating between high numbers of reps using light weights and low numbers of reps using heavy weights are the best way to ensure that your muscles are getting a proper workout.

Other factors to include in bodybuilding are your diet and your cardio workouts. You should try to increase the amount of protein in your diet as this will help your muscles grow and you should also try to get at east 8/9 hours sleep every night so that your body can recuperate. Also try not to exercise too many times through the week. For anyone over 40 you should only work out twice a week until you are extremely fit and can cope with the routine every day. By following these simple steps, you will soon have a body to die for and to make you the envy of all your friends.
